There was blood, there was sweat, and there were tears! But verrrry happy tears in the end. I am pretty proud of myself for pulling this off with so many set backs. Impressive Lies, I hope, is an empowering song, and I wanted the video to emit a sense of Girl Power, while at the same time having a down to earth, fun, and comedic storyline. After throwing ideas back and forth, Dean (Alucinor Productions) and I developed this concept that I hope will intrigue the viewer to watch through to the end to see what happens. I believe songs should tell a story or have a message, and I wanted the music video to do the same. Both shooting days went so smoothly and considering all the last minute dramas with cancellations, and Plan B, C and even D coming into play ... I am absolutely CHUFFED that the schedules went off without a hitch!! I'll be having a little video launch on completion to celebrate, and hope to see lots of friendly faces. I wish I could just survive solely on the music, but there are bills to be paid, so I also work full time at a Real Estate office in Subiaco. Somewhere squeezed in there is time for writing, vocal practice and dance classes! I am addicted to coffee to say the least.. Haha. The dream for me, is to be doing music fulltime. Meeting other artists and musicians, learning, evolving, improving. I would LOVE to tour! I’m working on it.. You may think I’m a shy person at first, but once you get to know me on and off stage, and you’ll see there’s more to me than you think! Being on the stage so frequently, has seen me grow into a confident performer, and I’d much rather be there than anywhere else! Check out my Facebook page – www.facebook.com/NatPearsonMusic and Twitter www.twitter.com/NatPearsonMusic for the latest on what I’m up to. Where did you grow up? I was born in UK, but raised in Perth. My immediate family are here in Australia: Mum, Dad, and my two younger brothers, Ryan and Adam. All my Aunties, Uncles, Cousins and Grandparents are back in Liverpool, and I've been back there a few times to visit and meet new family members. Tell us three things about yourself. I'm bighearted, I'm addicted to shoes, and I have a Westie called Jock! Your ‘perfect life’ would be… To be surrounded and supported by music, love, good friends and family. Listening to my ipod on the beach, dancing, recording in the studio, and be on tour around this glorious world with a hot band to a massive crowd! Your first concert, and your last concert? My first concert was Michael Jackson 'HIStory' at the Burswood Dome when I was 9 or 10? My parents took me. Ohh it was phenominal! Best present ever! (Thanks Mum & Dad!). The last concert I went to was P!NK 'The Truth About Love Tour' at Perth Arena, and she blew me away (again).. I'm totally fangirling. Singing live while trapezing upside down and flying over the crowd??! She is a force to be reckoned with, and everything I aspire to be as an artist. Your favourite band? Paramore! Hayley Williams is amazing! I saw her headbang and sing 'Misery Business' live without wobbling a note.. Op! There I go fangirling again! Your favourite TV program? Ooooh tough one! I'm rewatching all my Greys Anatomy episodes at the moment. Can't get enough of McDreamy and McSteamy! I'm also really enjoying Pretty Little Liars and Revenge too. Come on new episodes! What motivated you to choose the stage? From a young age I was fascinated by musicals, and I’d dress up and dance on top of things with my hairbrush-microphone in hand. I must have watched Annie a thousand times! Mum put me into dance classes, and I started having singing lessons after entering a Talent Quest age 5 and winning the Encouragement Award. From then I actually got to BE in my favourite musical, Annie, after scoring the role of Molly in a stage production. The fire started there, and hasn’t extinguished since! What’s been the biggest health challenge you’ve overcome and what did you learn from this experience? I have had issues with anxiety that have been worse in the past, but I deal with it now, and it is on a much more manageable scale. I think everyone has an uneasiness of the unknown, and it sometimes prevents us from putting ourselves out there for fear of failure or rejection. I’ve learnt to feel the fear and do it anyway! I still get nervous, and I still get rejected, but I gotta keep putting myself out there. If you want something you’ve never had, you’ve gotta do something you’ve never done! What’s your top tip for kickstarting the day? A protein smoothie to boost my energy! My Fave: Almond milk, mixed frozen berries, a banana, vanilla protein whey, chia seeds, coconut oil, and ice. Blend, blend, blend. This is my healthy start to the day! (Then it all goes downhill from there haha!) I also like to play upbeat music to get in the mood :) Beauty essentials? Moisturiser! Every morning and every night. And I always take my makeup off before going to bed, no matter how tired I am. Although, once I had to leave my makeup on for a music video overnight, because we were in the middle of nowhere, with no makeup artist to redo, and I needed it to last for two days worth of filming. As soon as it was a wrap, the first thing I did was scrub my face. It was heaven. What's your guilty pleasure? Chocolate. There's nothing else to say.. How do you like do keep fit, and why is it important to you? I love to dance, and I have discovered poledancing is a brilliant endorphin release! It’s a mix of cardio, stamina, weight resistance training, core strength and flexibility, with the added challenge of mastering each new move as you progress up the levels. As someone who dislikes the monotony of the gym, this is perfect for me, as my mind is distracted by trying not to fall off, and perfecting those lines, instead of thinking about how much my calves hurt from running. It's such a mood lifter I forget I'm excersizing. We have a lot of fun in class. I love my pole girls! I go to Bobbi's Pole Studio in East Perth. Having a physical release of energy and emotion, is the ultimate de-stress cure for me! A random fact about you? I can roll my tongue? Oh, and I still have a baby tooth! What career challenges have you faced and what advice would you pass on to others? Biggest challenge is definitely the limitations of time! There is so much I want done, and I want it done NOW! But these things require patience, especially when you’re relying on other people who are even busier than you! Quality over quantity.. And making music is expeeenssivvee! But I’d rather give it my all, than regret not going for it. Coulda, woulda, shoulda! Negativity is another challenge. There will ALWAYS be someone out there trying to burst your bubble and bring you down. Haters Gon' Hate, but don't let the haters stop you from doin' your thanng. Did I just say Thang? (Did I mention my favourite movie is Mean Girls?). My advice is to persevere, and do whatever you can to chip away towards your dream life. Believe in yourself, stay positive! And always be humble, remember where you came from. It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice. |
